Charlie Kaufman is Back to Make You Feel Things W/ 'Anomalisa' Trailer
Charlie Kaufman finally released the trailer for his new film Anomalisa yesterday. It stands as a poignant reminder that Kaufman is a succubus who thrives off of our tears and collective existential crises. And now, seven years after the release of Synedoche, New York, it seems as though he hungers once more.
“Whatever,” you’re thinking. “Charlie Kaufman isn’t a succubus or whatever. You’re full of shit.” To which we say, true. We are collectively pretty terrible people. But this is no joke. After all, if Charlie didn’t value all of our sweet, shitty emotions, would he really direct a stop-motion film about a sad motivational speaker? Keep in mind that this is the same guy who wrote Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, during which Jim Carrey of all people made us feel things. And now, after teaming up with the the company behind Morel Orel and Rick and Morty, he’s gonna make us feel things with puppets. Because human emotion is weak.
If you’re done feeling any real happiness in this lifetime, you’ll be happy to know that Anomalisa drops December 30th. Because apparently Charlie Kaufman also hates holiday joy.
