Chella Man Is The Genderqueer Artist You Need to Know
Introducing #MilkLoves: the definitive Milk roster of ones to watch in 2018. Follow along as we reveal our top 10 favorites to slay this year in activism, artistry, and more.
At 19 years old, Chella Man is paving the way. Transitioning on testosterone, and just days away from top surgery, Man is the embodiment of a rising generation of genderqueer, POC artists breaking ground for a new foundation for the arts. The future is now, and Man is at the forefront. And in 2018, he’s “Most Likely to Defy Gender Norms”. Apart from being a visual artist in the most literal sense (he actually painted the jumpsuit he wears for #MilkLoves), Man also writes a column for them, Condé Nast’s new LGBTQ publication, and is working to educate people on queer disabled culture (he also happens to be deaf). In the new year, the trend of breaking new ground continues; Man’s motto is “Be your own representation” and his plan is that “2018 will be bright because [he] said so.”
