They see me rollin', they hatin', patrollin'.

Cops Now Skateboard in Canada, Bro

We’ve seen police patrolling in cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and even cruising around on majestic horses. But have you ever seen a cop on a skateboard? Nope, neither have we.

But the good people in Longueuil, Quebec are well familiar with their newest skateboarding cop, officer Thierry Hinse-Fillion. “Making a living skateboarding is a dream. So is becoming a police officer,” he told CBC News.

The cop’s new, ~hip~ approach to patrolling aims to build bridges between the fuzz and local teens. Hinse-Fillion, who dropped out of high school at 15 and has been skateboarding since he was a kid, says he can relate to all the angsty teens at the skate park.  “I do two or three tricks, and they’re like, ‘OK, you can skate, even though you’re a cop.’ And I’ve already made a contact just by doing that,” he said.

So, if you ever happen to be in Longueuil, make sure you stop by the local skate park and keep an eye out for a hot cop with his badge, his gun, his helmet and board. And in the words of the great Chamillionaire: “They see me rollin’, they hatin’, patrollin’…”
