Creatures of the Wind's Stepford Book Club Breaks Free
If you walk past the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York on any given day, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s full of golden oldies having bingo night. Walk inside, though, and you’ll find ultra luxurious maroon carpets and stained glass that’s fit for royalty, which is the exact vibe Shane Gabier and Chris Peters from Creatures of the Wind were going for this season. A collection of rich hues and delicate fabrics left the impression that we’d walked into cocktail hour for a group of Stepford Wives that had pulled a Breaking Amish and flown the coop.
The collection was rife with turtlenecks, worn under dresses and sweaters for added depth. Standout looks included a shiny, leather-looking, knee-length, boatneck red dress with Cher-friendly spaghetti straps. Long wool coats that would’ve fit effortlessly into Margot Tenenbaum’s closet brought the perfect amount of class. The collarless detail and black and white prison stripe fabric fashioned into flowing, feminine dresses adding ultra sharp edge to the show. The collection was an impressive array of classic silhouettes dipped in latex and taken on a tour of Litchfield Penitentiary.
