Erykah Badu Remixed Kanye And It's Fire
On January 8th, Kanye West, in collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, dropped “Real Friends & No More Parties in LA”, as a part of West’s G.O.O.D. Fridays series, where he releases new song every Friday. Well, he may be on a roll, but Erykah Badu has already taken over the track. Her version, “Trill Friends,” also samples Whodini’s 1984 song,
“Friends.” Not that I’m picking sides, but Badu’s track is liiiiiit. It kind of echoes her fire “Hotline Bling” remix, “But You Cain’t Use My Phone,” in that she takes already-great hits to a whole new level.
On Badu’s caption for her remix, she writes “What up Yeezy?,” most likely acknowledging her name drop on the original track, where Lamar raps, “Umm, well cutie, I like your bougie booty. Come Erykah Badu me. Well let’s make a movie.” Hey, where’s Kendrick’s shout out, Badu? She also adds, “Badu messin round this mornin. Really suppose [to] be recording something else.” Oh okay, so Erykah Badu just remixed and recorded a super hot track real quick—no big deal.
I’m not sure exactly what Badu was supposed to be recording, but I highly encourage her to mess around more often if it means we get to hear more tracks like “Trill Friends.” Thanks, girl.
“Trill Friends” will be released with her upcoming mix tape, THIS $h!t TOO EASY. Kanye West’s highly-anticipated album Swish will be released on February 11th.
Stay tuned to Milk for more Badu, always.
