Fetty Wap Inspired A Fan To Remove Prosthetic Eye, Warms Our Hearts
Fetty Wap is normally thought of to be in the trap, rapping, or riding his motorcycle in New Jersey–but the musician also has a sensitive side. He recently inspired a young fan to truly be himself, living without a prosthetic eye for the first time. It is the sweetest story we’ve heard in quite some time. Get ready.
Wap is known for his distinctive look, which has even led to modeling gigs with Carine Roitfeld. Diagnosed with glaucoma at a young age, the rapper lost his eye, and then didn’t wear a prosthetic eye because he “didn’t want to look like everybody else.” Put those basics in their place, Fetty! So recently, an 11-year-old named Jayden Burgos identified with him–Burgos was diagnosed with retinoblastoma when he was a baby, and has worn a prosthetic eye ever since. Until now! When he saw Fetty Wap with one eye, Burgos gained the confidence to take out his prosthetic. His mom, Brenda Vaden, posted this sentimental Facebook post about the life milestone. Try to hold back your tears.
“This young rapper unknowingly gave Jayden something we weren’t able to give him,” wrote Vaden. “The confidence to be different.” Excuse us, we’re weeping. The post went viral, which got the attention of Fetty Wap himself. The rapper then reached out and made Jayden’s dream come true by going to meet him and his family. As Fetty said, “He is a really cool kid! It meant a lot to me personally to finally make his wish happen. It’s definitely a day we’ll both remember!” Too cute.
Fetty Wap even gave Jayden Remy Boyz gear and backstage tickets to hang out together at an upcoming show. What would be even cooler is if he ended up joining Fetty’s rap crew–but we’ll just have to wait and see.
