Harajuku Street Style Was Having Its Moment at NYFW

New York Fashion Week may be over, but that doesn’t mean we’re done obsessing over the incredible street style looks. It can be argued that Fashion Week street style is more indicative of up-and-coming trends than the actual shows, so listen up fam: Harajuku style is totally in.

Throwing it back to the early 2000s Asian-inspired trends (kimono dresses, “Chinese slippers”, and…sigh…chopsticks in hair buns), this trend is way more high fashion and less straight-up cultural appropriation. Attendees paid homage to classic Kawaii and Harajuku trends but, of course, added a New York spin on every outfit.

Blindingly-vibrant colors and patterns are here to stay, and we’re all about it.
