Honor the Power Suit With The Resort '17 Collections
Hillary Rodham Clinton and the rest of the morally-sound world have certainly suffered a severe loss, however we’re still proud to say that she embodied our values throughout this tumultuous election, and continues to bring us hope during a bleak time. So in honor of the woman who should have been the 45th President of the U.S., we’ve rounded up nine white power suits from the Resort ’17 collections that are perfect for channeling your inner nasty woman during the four years to come. Clinton has been known to rock a pristine white suit with unprecedented swagger throughout her political career. And now, with these slightly edgier iterations of her white signature white suit, you can not only be with her, but look sorta like her too.
T by Alexander Wang
For Alexander Wang’s diffusion line, T by Alexander Wang, the designer made a simple, elegant, and fluid creamy white suit. Featuring a relaxed shawl lapel with a tie closure at its base, the suit is clean yet exceedingly casual, and made all the more so when paired with a plain white tee. It differs from Wang’s signature black, leather, stud-heavy aesthetic, sure, but is supremely eye-catching nonetheless.
For the woman unafraid of demanding attention, the Balmain suit is a match made in heaven. With elongating, wide-legged trousers and a deconstructed blazer that features a dramatic tie closure and cut-out shoulders, the suit is a sleek and commanding number.
Margiela’s Resort ‘17 collection features a casual white suit that we can’t take our eyes off of. The pants are oversized without being boxy, with a black stripe down the side that say “I could work out if I wanted to, and probably wouldn’t get too out of breath, but just prefer to eat pasta instead.” Which is ultimately what you’re always looking for in a suit, is it not?
In a move all its own, DKNY has melded the bomber jacket and trench coat into one dreamy, godsent of a jacket. We know it sounds complicated, but it’s really not; when closed, the jacket looks like little more than a trench, but when opened, it subtly reveals the bomber-style lining. Paired with tapered suit pants, the end result is a must-have number that puts traditional suits to shame.
Some days, the thought of putting pants on is just too much to bear. Cue Dior’s suit-dress, the polished, minimal white sophisticated dress-jacket hybrid that looks remarkably sophisticated, yet requires barely any movement to put on. “I’m actually really lazy but I look sophisticated as hell.” The piece is a visually-pleasing work of understated geometry and an all-around head-turner. Anything we can throw on quickly in the morning is a plus, too.
