Isamaya Ffrench Wants You to Wear Your Lipstick and Eat It Too

Isamaya Ffrench is a makeup artist, but it’d be more accurate to call her an artist of wizardly proportions. The current beauty editor of i-D and brand ambassador of YSL Beauté has created makeup looks for Vogue Italia and Dazed (among many others), and recently started a clothing line, English School, with creative partner Josh Wilks. And now, after the bomb dinner party she hosted last night, she can add culinary innovator to her extensive catalog of admirable titles.

The dinner party, dubbed Culinary Cosmetics and labelled “Ffrench Pharma,” was, according to Another Magazine, “an edible cosmetics dining experience” that Isamaya hosted, along with Mandi Lennard and the East London, French restaurant where it was held, Bistrotheque. And while we had an inevitable case of FOMO, we still appreciated the photos of the six-course meal that graced our Instagram feeds.

What looked like products was in fact edible art, and among the makeup-inspired dishes were white chocolate and strawberry gloss lipstick, facial toner-tinis, foie gras blush compacts, crème brûlée pot mask, BLT jelly disguised as moisturizer, and (Bot)Ox Cheek that had syringes sticking out of it—and that’s not even all of it. To top it off, the servers donned lab coats, surgical gloves, and mouth masks. We’re already in awe of makeup that smells good, but this is just next level.

While we don’t know for sure whether these titillating edible cosmetics will eventually be a full-blown line that we can purchase and gorge on, we’re sure hoping that’s the case. Or, at the very least, that we’re invited to the next dinner.
