It's Time to Put Opal Hoyt of Zenizen On Your Radar

Opal Hoyt is a force. Even without her signature head-mic (the MoMA—yes, the MoMA—insisted she use a standing mic instead), she still leads Zenizen with the power of a seasoned professional, taking charge with keytar in hand. And it’s not everyday that your band gets asked to play the MoMA Sculpture Garden. Zenizen took the opportunity accordingly, putting on a damn good show. We caught up with Hoyt after the fact to get the lowdown on what it’s like to jam in one of NYC’s art institutions and, of course, got our hands on the photos from the show.

“The space was great, and everyone was really into it, which is always good. The whole night just came together. I wasn’t stressed, I got an entirely too expensive skirt to wear, and I was just feeling great.”

Enough said. Check the gallery above for a full visual recap.
