Party all night, sleep all day.

Runway Rundown: Adam Selman Gets Scrambled

The vibe before Adam Selman felt more like a party than a fashion show, which was fitting for the designer’s Fall/Winter ‘16 collection: too-cool-for-school looks made for a night on the town. Always one of the most anticipated shows during MADE Fashion Week, it did not disappoint.

The Look Lowdown…

Imagine a crazy punk pajama party at Studio 54—lots of lurex, velvet, and sheer layers, cut in loose-fitting separates, slips, and cinched-waist dresses. Each look was grounded with all-black Chucks, our new party shoe of choice. Ideal for the walk home at 7 AM when you’ve been dancing all night.

We Spied…

Everyone from the cool kids table. From pop star Charli XCX and Orange Is the New Black faves Natasha Lyonne and Jackie Cruz to Transparent star Hari Nef and hip-hop artist Joey Bada$$. Everyone came out to support the man of the hour.

We Can’t Wait to Wear This…

To the disco—and we’ll provide the disco ball. Selman’s standout pieces were crafted from strips of lurex that reflected light like glittering diamonds and bounced as the models walked, looking like sparkling sea anemones drifting with the current.

Adding to Our Shopping List…

Loads of black eyeliner. Models sported sultry ‘70s wave and what looked like Avril-inspired kohl-rimmed eyes that were slightly mussed. Angsty high school makeup is so hot again.

The Takeaway…

Let’s party. The voice-over that tracked the models’ walk down the runway proclaimed, “I like to go to parties, I like to feel the energy.” The clothes felt like a physical manifestation of the mantra, electrifying the room with every look.
