Welcome to the dark side.

Runway Rundown: Beaufille Gets Scrambled

Relatively new kids on the block, sisters Parris and Chloé Gordon are quickly making their mark. The Toronto-based duo presented their Fall/Winter ’16 collection today at The Standard High Line as part of MADE Fashion Week, and had us bowing down at the altar of Beaufille.

The Look Lowdown…

The line, which translatest to “handsome girl” in French, explores the relationship between the masculine and the feminine. Girls who look like boys, and boys who look like girls, ya know? They continued that journey this season, showing architectural silhouettes in decadent fabrics, adorned with oversized ruffles and hard-edged accessories.

We Can’t Wait to Wear This…

Next time we need to kick someone’s ass, and look damn good doing it.

Adding to Our Shopping List…

Red leather everything. They showed several looks in a shiny, blood red leather fabric, from boots and moto jackets to flared pants and A-line skirts. The standout was a long leather trench that would make Buffy the Vampire Slayer proud.

It’s in the Details…

The accessories were on point this season, particularly the jewelry that is the handiwork of Parris. The sculptural chokers and swirly earrings are like tiny tributes to the architecture of Frank Gehry. Because if you can’t afford to buy one of his buildings (and chances are you can’t), then you might as well wear jewelry inspired by it.

The Surreal Soundtrack…

A sultry mix of 1960s tunes—romantic and brooding, a perfect fit for the collection and the rainy weather. We caught Dana Gillespie’s “You Just Gotta Know My Mind” and Roger James Four’s “Hear You Talking” featuring Beverly Jones.
