Peep Olympia Le-Tan's Precious New Tribute to Keith Haring
Though we are partial to the cute milk carton bags from her “Schnitzel with Noodles” FW13 collection, Olympia Le-Tan is perhaps most known for her charming book clutches that are a prominent fixture in many of her accessories collections and toted by such style mavens as Marion Cotillard, Tilda Swinton, and Michelle Williams. Not one to keep her work stale, Le-Tan, for her latest capsule collection, took inspiration from her childhood obsession with Keith Haring. Dubbed Olympia Le-Tan x Keith Haring, the capsule includes 12 different styles and, according to her website, features Le-Tan’s favorite Haring pieces.
A self-taught designer who has worked at Chanel and Balmain before launching her eponymous brand, Le-Tan, as she told Vogue, “was obsessed with Keith Haring when I was a kid.” His work, she said “is so much fun and colorful. It looks naive yet it’s very political, which is why I like it so much.” What’s more, she said the capsule is a “good complement” to her fall collection, “Framed,” which is centered on the art world.
To showcase the capsule, Le-Tan tapped Chloë Sevigny—a wise choice—to model the colorful bags. And for a specific reason too. “I feel like [Chloë] would definitely have been hanging out with Keith Haring had they been from the same generation,” Le-Tan said. We do too.
