Premiere: "Body" by LÉON
LÉON has already made a name for herself as the sultry vocalist who serves up her clever lyrics on shiny, bouncy melodies. Each track packs a punch, and, unsurprisingly, “Body” is no different. It seems that the new track, premiering today on MILK.XYZ, is only further proof of the Stockholm native’s mastery of the mashup—combining modern pop with throwback (think ’60s and ’80s) sounds, this songstress has certainly found a winning combination.
“When I wrote ‘Body’ I guess I was feeling pretty nostalgic,” she says. “I started thinking of a summer a few years ago, when I used to be working as a waitress. I think a lot of people have experienced that super intense ‘summer love’ that you know, deep down, will never last. But when it’s over it feels like it’s the biggest heartbreak you’ll ever go through.”
“Body” follows another recently released hit single—that’s “Surround Me” for the uninitiated—and it’s clearly just a taste of what’s to come from LÉON’s forthcoming EP, set to drop this fall prior to a headlining tour (catch her in NYC on September 15 at Citi Field). While you wait for the full record, peep “Body” below, then check back for the full EP, coming oh so soon.
