The Inglewood native shows off his pipes on his first single, "Blue", and debut EP, 'Tides'.

Premiere: Listen to "Blue" by Brandon Banks

It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of LA-based singer & songwriter, Brandon Banks—and that’s why we’re teaming up once again with the up-and-coming artist to premiere his newest single, “Blue“, off of his debut EP, Tides.

“Blue”, Brandon’s first official single, gives listeners an introspective glimpse into the singer’s mind as he rides the unpredictable undulations of human emotion. A lo-fi jam with heavy R&B influences, Brandon’s distinctively smooth voice is anchored by a strong percussion bass line underlying it all. The chorus hints at the sensation of feeling caught in a loop—or, to quote the singer, “stuck in the blue.

“This song is another exploration into the duality that I see in my mind and in my life,” Banks says. “I am constantly questioning if I’m on the right path because I feel lost a lot, but also reassuring myself that I know who I am and where I am taking my journey. I feel stuck in a weird space where nothing is moving forward, or backward. Where I’m doing things I used to dream about, but at the same time making a lot of mistakes that constantly derail my life in various ways. I had to name this weird place I constantly found, and find myself in today. The blue is what came to mind.”

Along with the single, Banks has also released a 7-track EP that also shows off the rising artist’s creative sensibilities titled Tides. Establishing a unique, mellow sound with sensitive, personally penned lyrics to match, Tides has us stoked for what’s to come—so keep your eyes peeled as Banks’s star is on the rise.
