Skateboarding with Peacocks in Berlin: Gucci's SS16 Campaign
Gucci’s SS16 ad campaign is here, and it’s as dark and magical as we could have ever dreamed. Shot by Glen Luchford in Berlin, the campaign paints a playfully sinister picture of the German city, and does justice to Alessandro Michele’s fabulously eccentric designs, which have been generally seen as a departure from the sexy boho glam of Frida Giannini’s Gucci.
The clothing itself—modeled here by the likes of Peyton Knight, Polina Oganicheva and Elizabeth Moore—is conspicuously ’70s. Meanwhile, images of Berlin’s seedy subway stations, restrooms and rooftops create the perfect frame for the collection, which has been described as taking inspiration from “the visual language and aesthetic of German ‘80s pop culture.”
Oh, and there’s also a peacock.
