Snoop, Cher, and Boy George Model At 69 [NYFW]

“Ummm Snoop Dogg is one of the models at 69,” read a text I got from a friend. As you can imagine, we immediately rushed up to scout the scene for ourselves, already thinking about the weed + Martha Stewart-based questions we were dead set on asking him. To our surprise, upon entering 69’s presentation, we not only found Snoop modeling the anonymous-designed label’s MADE New York SS17 collection, but also Cher, Howard Stern, Boy George, and…Prince. It quickly set in: these were neither celebrities nor models, but in fact a cast of lookalikes that you had to get super close to in order to verify it wasn’t them. Sure, Prince and Andy Warhol tipped us off, but a big part of us was praying this was like that party in Death Becomes Her, when you realize that stars don’t die, they just retire into a hedonistic mansion to live frozen in time.

The Look that Gave Us Life…

The matching shirt and pants combo in the characteristic 69 print that is, fun fact, the astrological symbol for Cancer. We love us a matching look, especially when it can be a conversation starter.

We Can’t Wait to Wear This…

At a party celebrating the return of 2000s fashion into the scene. Denim, denim, denimsure, it’s a staple as old as time, but the revamped 69 cuts will make you live somewhere between the past, the present, and the future.

The Most Realistic Doppelgänger…

Was hands down a tie between Snoop Dogg and a Purple Rain-era Prince. That mustache, that curly hair, that sex appeal. We had to make sure it wasn’t the icon’s way of saying “It is me, y’all got punk’d.”

We Couldn’t Believe When…

Miss Universe stepped into the room, causing pandemonium and the perfect photo-op between the who’s who of iconic lookalikes and the crowned beauty.

The Takeaway…
Helmed by a very mysterious anonymous source, 69 is the brand that keeps on giving…and growing. They revamp the classic staple and make it current and exciting, and we’re all for it.
