So Flying Ubers Are Coming
Preface: It is not April Fool’s Day and this is not fake news. Uber, the transportation innovation company that has made on-call car service a norm, and to whom masses of booty calls, drunk people and the general public are eternally indebted to, announced that they’ve got some interesting things brewing in their tech cauldron based out of San Francisco. The industry beast with startup roots has recently revealed at the “Elevator Conference,” in Dallas, Texas, that they are planning to launch an “on-demand air call service,” which will employ a vertical take-off and landing aircraft (VTOL) for those looking to get out of highly condensed urban areas in a timely and baller fashion.
Uber has also disclosed that they are already working with multiple airline and VTOL companies on this new venture. Some of the six collaborators include Aurora Flight Sciences, Imbra, and Bell Helicopter, and the special project will focus on Dallas and Dubai, the latter being where Uber plans to showcase its first flight taxi, at the Dubai International Expo three years from now.
While the future of our political climate remains uncertain, one thing is for sure, the future of our drunk Uber pools is looking lit AF.
