Star Wars Meets Fine Art at this Hilariously Perfect Gallery

You consider yourself an avid connoisseur of the fine arts, and a reliable subject on matters of taste in general, but you also appreciate a good blockbuster every now and then. We totally get it, and we have just the thing for you.

Sakura, an art gallery in Paris, is currently hosting an exhibition comprised of 150 Star Wars themed works by over 35 artists (including 13 street artists) in celebration of the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The exhibition is called “Contre Attaque,” and it is on view until January 15th. Works include paintings, crystal sculptures, “Michaelangelo-esque” statues of Sith lords, cleverly-doctored historical photographs, and other charming pieces by artists like Travis Durden and Thomas Dagg.

Just like the forces of Sith and Jedi, it has long been taken for granted that the worlds of fine art and science fiction superheroes would forever be at odds. “Contre Attaque,” however, is gratifying and heart-warming proof of the contrary.

Be sure to check out the exhibition before it closes on January 15th.
