The Week In Collabs: Pucci Skateboards, Air Jordan x Supreme + More
On the list of best timeless duos, designer collaborations are up there with peanut butter and jelly and wine and cheese. But here, the peanut butter is Balmain, and the wine is Supreme – and it all tastes like heaven with sprinkles on top. This week, there was news on a number of epic duos that have us channeling our inner skater boys and feeling nostalgic for the 50’s. From hacker leaks and false releases to shimmering stitching and glossed sneakers – here’s your rundown of this week in collaborations.
Balmain x H&M
The long awaited Balmain and H&M collaboration is finally here, or at least 99 leaked photos are. We were able to thumb through on Instagram until they were removed this afternoon. Although you may now have to wait until the collaboration hits stores, we got a chance to see the goodies. The leaked pictures showed staple jewel tones and body-skimming military dresses, tuxedo jackets, and Balmain classics stitched up with glimmering metallics. The dark, elegant designs with a price point that makes wallets happy debuts November 5th. Until then, you’ll just have to trust us: it was magical.
Pucci x NOWNESS
Pucci is collaborating with NOWNESS, bringing its colorful retro prints to a skateboard collection. The vibrant, classic patterns will adorn two board shapes, street and cruiser, with a variety of rich kaleidoscopic designs. Hand-curated wood will ensure durability, scratch resistance, and a photo-ready finish. The collaborative project will also include a short film on NOWNESS. Titled Rolling with Emilio Pucci, the video chronicles youth skate culture and the re-imagined skateboard motifs. Stay tuned for the dual board and film release October 12th, exclusively online.
Supreme is collaborating with Michael Jordan on a new sneaker! The greatest baller of all time cheekily grins in the ad, filling our hearts with joy. The release was anticipated for October 15th at Supreme’s flagship store in New York, but was just – shocker – cancelled, for no specified reason. Déjà vu to the Nike Foamposite cancellation last April?
Although you wont be able to flock to stores to indulge in overnight camping and crazy lines just yet, you can still get the shoe during the online release. Further details about store release dates are yet to come.
In other sneaker news, Jeremy Scott is making another shoe pipe-dream come true, and we’re suddenly feeling nostalgic for classic Cadillacs and candy-coat hot rods. His new shoe, featuring a shark fin design, tail lights, and blue glossed upper, was inspired by the classic Cadillac Eldorado. Dubbed the shark, the shoe is available at the Adidas store online.
Stay tuned for for more collaboration news!
