Weekend Recap: Camp Flog Gnaw 2019
Tyler, The Creator’s eighth year of Camp Flog Gnaw at Dodger Stadium came and went in an almost seamless fashion. There is always a consistency of heavy hitters with every year, but the only question going into this past weekend was who would be the closer for Sunday night?
Before we get into that, this year’s festival brought in an amazing line-up which including Na-kel Smith, IDK, Juto, Willow Smith, Dominic Fike, Slowthai, Yasiin Bey, Omar Apollo, YG, H.E.R., DaBaby, BROCKHAMPTON, Goldlink, FKA Twigs, Summer Walker, 21 Savage and many more! Along with the ongoing growth of Tyler’s festival came some expansion; a third stage, the Gnaw Stage, was accompanied by some new activations including [Yung] Taco’s Tacos, YG’s Bompton house and Golf Le Fleur’s Converse booth to name a few.
With many speculations of the closing act being either Frank Ocean, Drake, or A$AP Rocky, viewers were initially delighted to receive multiple closing acts. Tyler came out to acknowledge the fans and asked the crowd of nearly 50,000 attendees if he could bring out a couple of his friends. Batting first, was A$AP Rocky who performed “Jodye” and “Praise The Lord.” Next up was Lil Uzi Vert, who performed “Money Longer” and “Sanguine Paradise.” With a very Tyler smirk, the festival’s host then brought out what would be the night’s last secret act, Drake, who performed a medley of old and new songs that ended abruptly; to the hopeful audience’s (not so subtle) dismay Ocean didn’t close out the show.
