Win Tickets To The Fashion Design Culture UnConference And Become A Boss
Conferences are boring, right? At their best, they feature sleek people droning on about pre-arranged talking points, and at their worst, they incorporate beige suits and overly warm hotel buffets. But former dean of the Fashion School at Parsons and all-around fashion expert Simon Collins wants to change things up, doing something that’s the opposite of a traditional convention. His event, the Fashion Culture Design UnConference, taking place on June 9th at the Parsons School of Design, is an all-day panel discussion that looks to disrupt fashion, creating new ideas and starting necessary conversations—all while excising clichéd words and phrases like “gamechanger” and “lean in.”
Panelists include supermodel Ashley Graham, New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman, Cosmopolitan Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles, The Fashion Law lawyer/reporter Julie Zerbo, Paper Magazine’s legendary editorial director Mickey Boardman, and IMG Models President Ivan Bart. They’ll be hitting on major topics currently affecting the industry, asking questions and looking for solutions. For instance, how do you solve a problem like fashion week? Is there a responsible way to produce and consume fast fashion? Is fame the most important asset of the modern age? We’re intrigued.
Collins told us that he wants the event to “give rise to a new concept, a new idea, a new way of looking at something.” We want to witness that. And we want you to come, too! Milk is giving away five individual tickets to the UnConference, all for free. So like us on Facebook, and contact us with UnConference in the subject line saying why you want to attend. The five best entries will get the passes. We’re pulling for you.
