You Can Go to Governors Ball for $40—Here's How
Most of the people interested in going to Governors Ball Music Festival are college students who complain about only having three dollars in their bank accounts. Which is why they’ll surely be happy to find out that there’s a possibility of attending all three days of the festival at 13 percent less of the normal admissions cost.
The festival will be kicking off tomorrow, June 3rd, on Randall’s Island, at the sold out price tag of $305. Since its launch in 2011 by Founders Entertainment, the festival has grown exponentially; that said, they still need all the help they can get, and if you choose to sign up as a volunteer at the festival, you can attend for a whopping $40.
Dubbed team Gov Ball members, the volunteers are given free t-shirts, unlimited high fives, and access to all three days of the festival in exchange for long-lasting smiles and physical labor. To be considered for a volunteer position, registrants must be 18 as of May 23rd and willing to work multiple shifts throughout the three days. Volunteer applicants must put down a $345 deposit with their application, $305 of which will eventually be refunded in exchange for the tickets.
Those who aren’t yet dissuaded would usually have to choose between four options: volunteering pre- and post-festival, volunteering during the festival, Gov Ball Gives Back volunteers, and Clean Vibes volunteers. For this year’s festival, Clean Vibes is the only volunteer option still open. But if you have a sneaking suspicion that you’ll still be broke for next year’s festival, know that volunteering is always an option.
