At the age of 18, Briana Cheng began working in the music industry by attending shows and scouting rising talent. After gaining seven years of experience, including handling A&R for Downtown Records, Cheng now runs her own roster. Her new label, b4, is under the iconic Beggars Group umbrella, which represents and releases the music of artists such as Radiohead, Adele, King Krule, Bon Iver, and Princess Nokia—to name a few.

Cheng’s artists channel the emerging contemporary era of New York. Named a nightlife power player by Time Out, Cheng’s musical influences are far from traditional. With roots within the city’s DIY scene, b4 reflects a range of experimental strains from club culture and rap, to R&B and pop.

“This playlist is a mixture of my favorite new songs and b4 releases that shape the sound of the label,” Cheng says. “All the songs are selected in order to soundtrack the weekend from getting ready/the pregame to the party and the after hours.”

Listen to her weekend playlist below: featuring not only the artists signed to her label, but also the sounds that inspire her taste.
