Your Weekend Playlist, Courtesy of Juliana Daugherty
It’s that time of the week again—we’re back with your weekly mix, and this time it’s from none other than musician Juliana Daugherty. Fresh off the release of her first-ever album, Light, Daugherty’s debut is unsurprisingly poetic (given her education—namely, an MFA in poetry) and it follows that her playlist is equally lovely as well.
“This playlist was meant to be a selection of laid-back, jazzy pop tunes in honor of spring, but of course I deviated pretty widely from that first idea, which I think is really what’s supposed to happen when you’re putting a playlist together. I put a lot of thought into transitioning from song to song when I’m making a mix, and I love it when that leads me accidentally to some unexpected common territory—lyrics or rhythm or instrumentation—between two songs that are really different on paper.”
Listen to the full playlist below, then make sure to give Daugherty’s new album a spin.
