Your Weekend Playlist, Courtesy of Kyle Dion
While artist Kyle Dion might still be fresh on the music scene, he’s already well poised to begin his takeover of the industry. With a deep, creative soul at the root of it all, Dion is the new artist you didn’t know you needed. And lucky for you, he’s made us all a Friday playlist to start the weekend off right.
A South Florida native, Dion began his music career by sharing his tracks on SoundCloud. Rising up from humble beginnings, he now claims a repertoire of music that boasts over 18 million cumulative listens. He’s toured with some of our favorite artists like BJ The Chicago Kid and Khalid, along with joining PARTNEXTDOOR on the entire European leg of his tour. In terms of his sound, Kyle describes himself musically as a amalgamation of varied influences.
“My sound is a mix of pop, R&B, soul, rock, & even some jazzy influences, but I would label my overall sound as soul-pop,” Dion says.
His follow-up album to his sophomore release in 2016 is set to be announced next month. It includes some of Dion’s most recent singles, like “Cool Side Of The Pillow” and “Brown”. In regards to his new music, for Dion, quality comes before everything else.
“I’m working very hard on my upcoming album—timing is key! Some artists don’t realize that when you drop an album or an EP these projects stay by your side for your entire career. So, I always want to be proud of the music I release, so I’m taking my time. It’s almost there though, and can be expected to drop this year. For this project, I’ve been inspired by a specific era as well as the feeling I got when I was watching this particular film—I won’t say too much yet, but the album is very cinematic.”
In terms of exciting projects that Dion has in the works for 2018, it seems like the forthcoming album is at the very top of his list. While you wait for it to drop, check out the dope playlist that Kyle has curated below.
“The playlist is very eclectic and represents a variety of sounds and genres that inspire me,” he says. “These are just songs that I’ve been listening to lately and is a vibe from me to you, open ears and open minds.”
