For Meg Mac, this isn’t just any other Friday: today, she’s celebrating the drop of her debut record Low Blows. Put simply (that is to say, without digging into the staggering depths of the album), it’s a total triumph of soulful musicality, and we can’t quite articulate just yet how important this LP will be Mac’s career. What we can do, however, is join in the celebrations—and what better way to do that than with a MILK.XYZ Friday playlist?
Mac’s mixtape is full of songs that both inspired her own record and stand alone as iconic in their own right; artists like Leon Bridges, who has been compared to Mac’s ultimate hero, Sam Cooke, Patti Smith, and John Lennon fill the roster. Of the closing track, Mac says, “I always go back to this album, the way it makes me feel when I listen to it. I think these songs are so important.”
We think all these songs are important, too; peep the full list below.
