Your Weekly Activist Events Roundup

We are back this week with more ways for you to stand up and take action in New York City. The literal climate has apparently taken after the country’s political climate in terms of stability, and—just when we thought spring had almost sprung—the very random, very unwelcome snowstorm said to terrorize the city on Tuesday has unfortunately affected a few of this week’s rallies. With that said, activism never sleeps and solidarity stands strong; we’ve managed to round up some other events that you can take part of through out the week. Peep the full list below.

Tuesday, March 14 – Wednesday, March 15 (POSTPONED):
What: African Communities Together has organized an entire 24-hour itinerary of resistance to the Trump administration’s Refugee Ban. The full day of action starts with a rally at the Trump Building (40 Wall Street) on one day and ends with another at Foley Square the next day, with plenty of marches and programs in between.

When: This call to action has been postponed due to expected bad weather conditions; new dates will be confirmed soon

Where: Trinity Church, 89 Broadway, New York, NY 10007

Hands Off Abortion & Birth Control! What: Stand alongside your sisters in speaking out for abortion, birth control and healthcare for all! In light of Tom Price’s recent threats to woman’s access to birth control, the seize of funding for Planned Parenthood, and the privatization of Medicare, the National Women’s Liberation has called for a rally to voice their demands and have them be heard.

When: 6:00PM – 8:00PM

Where: 26 Federal Plaza, New York, NY 10013

Young Leaders Council Leadership Speakers Series with Julia WeldonWhat: Join the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Center’s Young Leaders for a chill night of conversation and acoustic music by indie-folk-pop artist, Julia Weldon. The musician will discuss creating and releasing a new album after undergoing the life alternating process of gender affirmation surgery, which she describes as both a “new love and death.” The Center uses this speaker series as a platform for LGBT youth to meet mentors and establish professional and personal relationships.

When: 7:00PM – 9:00PM

Where: The LGBT Community Center, 208 W 13th Street, New York, NY 10011

Friday, March 17: Protect Trans Rights What: With the recent administration’s insensitivity to the equal rights of our transgender youth, Not Straight Against Hate is inviting all to stand up to transphobia and general hate. Channel your frustration and energy into love and action by demonstrating the community’s unwillingness to be silenced in this gay group hug.

When: 12:00PM – 7:00PM

Where: Washington Square Park
