With a highly politicized environment comes a fairly mobilized public and thus, an array of activist events that you, too, can be a part of. Wednesday, March 22: Female Empowerment TourWhat: Twenty days in and Women’s History Month is alive and well. Join the Rubin Museum of Art in a tour of their current exhibitions of Himalayan art, particularly focusing and celebrating the histories of fearless female figures from Himalayan art. Stand in solidarity alongside your sisters in this peaceful and enlightening event of empowerment.

Saturday, March 25: 

March Against Bathroom BillsWhat: In light of the current administration’s threat to the Bathroom Bill and as an ode to Marsha P. Johnson, the late drag queen and gay liberation activist who started the Stonewall Riots, the gay bar and national monument, Stonewall Inn is hosting a march to stand up for equality and support the transgender community whose rights face great risk.

NYU Sustainability Summit 2017What: This conference and workshop, though held at New York University, is open to anyone interested in discussing environmental sustainability in urban environments. If you don’t think this cause is relevant to you, check your Uber bill for this month and think about how many times you went out for brunch in February. Yeah, it’s called climate change. Workshop leaders will include WE ACT, New York Passive House, Urban Green Council, Gotham Greens, The River Project, Environmental Advocates of New York, and the New York Department of Environmental Protection.

Sunday, March 26: The JAM: Sole Therapy – Human Rights Campaign BenefitWhat: Join the Human Rights Campaign in a guilt-free night of partying. Why guilt-free? Because your drinking and dancing can help raise money for the Human Rights Campaign, a respectable organization that dedicates itself to bringing forth basic equal rights to the LGBTQ community. The party is absolutely free, but the no-guilt part is contingent on a much-appreciated donation.
