Andrew Boyle was raised in Australia on a steady diet of comic books, cult movies and jazz, soul and funk music procured from working at his Grandfather’s record store from the age of ten. Instead of pursuing an expected career as an illustrator, Andrew followed the vision of his heroes Dennis Stock, Anton Corbijn, Irving Penn and Danny Clinch in the pursuit of a (relatively) instantaneous way to create an image. Andrew moved to New York in 2007, making a start in Milk Studios’ equipment room before taking the assisting route, and finally getting behind the camera. Andrew loves shooting the energy of youth, fashion, celebrity portraits, music culture, and quieter subjects like abandoned urban landscapes. Andrew lives in Brooklyn amongst mountains of photo books, movies and graphic novels.
